Baby Massage

The baby massage wants to be a form of communication between parents and child. It enables the parents to come to rest with the child and to perceive and respect their own and the child’s needs. The grips give the parents security to “do something right” and to do something good for the child.

Massage, along with eye contact and listening to the voice, stimulates the child’s senses and fosters a deeper and more conscious bond between parent and child.
Infant massage is an ancient practice, spread in different ways in many peoples’ cultures.
Learning to massage your child is simple; it does not require knowledge of complex techniques but rather learning, through physical contact, a new way of communicating with your child.

The fetus is naturally massaged even before birth by the gentle caresses of amniotic fluid in the mother’s womb. Touch is the first sense to develop in the mother’s womb (in fact, it develops as early as between the sixth and ninth weeks of gestation) and the last to leave us before death.

Moreover, the skin is our largest sense organ and is an important link to the outside world, particularly in the early stages of life when the other senses are still immature.
Thanks to the benefits of touch, the infant not only survives but also grows and develops.
Massage in humans acts equivalently to typical animal licking. Animals that are not licked, caressed, or prevented from contact grow thinner and more vulnerable. Contact also is essential to stimulate the parent’s caring abilities.

In humans, the deep emotional bond that will be formed during childhood will lay the foundation for a life rich in trust, courage, reliability, and love.
Massage can be practiced from the earliest days of life, although out of prudence it is preferred to wait until the umbilicus is fully healed, generally beginning after the first month of life. It can safely be practiced throughout the child’s growth, with no age limit, although as the child grows the sequences and meaning of the massage itself change, which in the older child may be more frequently to relieve tension or relieve a pain.
